John Henry Lee Outfitters
Unforgettable trips catered by third generation Wyoming native
By Cate Cook
There is nothing like a trip into the west’s awe-inspiring high country, pristine wilderness that only a few lucky individuals ever see, and Wyoming has many competent professionals to help find those perfect hideaways. John Henry Lee Outfitters of Dubois is one such skilled wilderness outfitter. Lee is a third generation Wyoming native with over twenty years guiding and outfitting, and a permitee of Yellowstone national Park and the Bridger-Teton Wilderness. He and his capable staff offer any photography, scenic, or fishing trip into the park areas, as well as outstanding hunting opportunities, and consistently ensure hunters find stunning trophy animals. An example is the 2001 bull that scored 371 in Boone & Crockett.
John Henry Lee Outfitters provide comfortable wilderness camps and mountain-wise horses, and supply gear and equipment as needed for everyone. The small, personalized operation is set up for only six hunters per trip, and can be booked from September through November. They are knowledgeable and willing to assist with inquiries of license application, area lodging, vehicle rental, etc.
An unforgettable fish float trip is offered in the summer months, and over 30 years experience promises John Henry Lee will guide you to some of the best trout waters in the world. As the breathtaking Teton Range towers over private and serene rivers, wild and scrappy Cutthroat wait await both expert and novice. Take a McKenzie River Boat down the Thorofare, Yellowstone, or Snake River, or check out the Green and New Fork streams. Walk-in trips can be planned as well, to fish the Madison, Firehole, and Yellowstone in Yellowstone National Park, an extraordinary experience shared by a rare few, and non-fishing guests are welcome, too. Back country trips are tailored to the desires of those seeking 5 to 10 days of spectacular scenery and unforgettable adventure. There are stunning wildflower fields, alpine meadows, grand forests. This is the best place to see a variety of wildlife in their natural habitat, including grizzly bears, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, moose, and countless small and no-game inhabitants of the forests. In the solitude of this pristine wilderness, you may even spot an elusive wolf.
We live in a state that offers plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy the beauty of the Rocky Mountain West. But for that trip of a lifetime, or to get an unforgettable trophy, to visit unfamiliar wilderness areas, or for the non-resident – John Henry Lee Outfitters are dedicated to making memories.
